Hello all! I know it has been a while since I have spoken to many of you, I'm sorry!! Things have been a tad bit hectic but here is a little update!
I am having an absolulte fabulous time. Our apartment is fabulous its in Roger's Park, do you know where that is? Its a very diverse neighborhood but rather safe. its great. My housemates are amazing. My roommate Stacey and I get a long really well and have a lot in common so it is great. Dave and Kevin are great to and Zach actually left the community so we have 2 men and 2 women which works out. It was tough when Zach decided to leave but we are adjusting. Things were a bit rocky at first and we still aren't completely settled. There were major problems at the bank and we only had access to our account on Friday which was annoying and we still don't have CTA passes which is a bummer b/c thats how we get to work and get places so we have had some really akward weekend moments where we sit and stare at each other in silence. Things are getting there though and slowly but surely everything will be settled!
As far as my placement, I love it. It is such a great place to be. My main job will eventually be to run the home delivery program and to coordinate volunteers at the pantry. The staff is made up of 7 amazing people and I make 8. The rest is all volunteer and everyday I am more and more amazed at the things the volunteers do. They know exactkly what to do and when to do it without anyone telling them anything. It is amazing. I am constantly in awe. The staff seems really excited for me to be here which is awesome and the organization is very well organized. All in all, I am having a blast. Checkout the webiste at www.lakeviewpantry.org
The JV house from Milwake came down this past weekend and we were able to go downtown a bit and see Millenium Park and Grant Park and catch some of the Jazz Fest down there. We walked around Michigan Ave and Bellmont too. It was awesome!
I miss you all so so much and can't wait to hear how everything is going. I promise to keep in touch as often as I can :) If i missed anyone on the emil list if you could please forward this there way, I would appreciate it!
